Epic Games, which is one of the biggest video games producers in the world has pledged its support to the people of war-torn Ukraine.

From the 20th of March through to the 3rd of April, the North Carolina-based games industry player will commit proceeds from its ultra popular title “Fortnite” to humanitarian aid for those impacted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Epic posted a message about its efforts across its social media on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The company plans to support Direct Relief, the UN's Children Fund, its World Food Programme and the UNHCR.

In an article posted to its website, the company said "Xbox is joining us in this effort and is committing their net proceeds for Fortnite during this time, so that we can get more aid to the people of Ukraine."

“We’re not waiting for the actual funds to come in from our platform and payment partners, which can take a while depending on how the transaction was processed” Epic continued.

In a Q&A section within the article the company clarified its position. Real-money purchases will help in the relief efforts. Retail store purchases of in-game cosmetics and cards will also be included if they are redeemed within the game between March the 20th and the 3rd of April this year.

This is an interesting move by Epic Games and the wider computer games industry. With the ongoing invasion by Russia, Ukraine has been through a lot in recent days.
